In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Vital Kamerhe, chief of staff of President Félix Tshisekedi, announced Monday, March 18, "an important" inter-institutional meeting after the reactions recorded in several cities, following the results of senatorial elections . He also reported that after this meeting "important steps" will be announced. On Saturday, many UDPS activists demonstrated in several cities across the country to protest against their own deputies that they accuse of being corrupted to elect the senators of the Common Front for Congo, the platform of former President Joseph Kabila who won the absolute majority in the Senate.

Despite the rain that hit Kinshasa on Saturday, not all traces of violence left. Tires burned by activists of the presidential party UDPS are still visible on some major arteries of the capital.

If there were no new demonstrations Sunday morning, the tension, it is still present. On the evening of Saturday, the PPRD youth league, the party of the former President of the Republic, Joseph Kabila, reacted through a statement after the rampage of one of its offices.

The youth of the PPRD condemn this attack and warn those of the UDPS. Papy Pungu, their president, said they were " ready to fight back to defend the homeland ".

In some other cities, it's the same tension. In Kananga for example, a city acquired at the UDPS of Felix Tshisekedi, all four elected senators are from the political family of Joseph Kabila. Here, angry campaigners promise new demonstrations to prevent the provincial assembly from functioning.
