Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said that the coming weeks would witness the launch of a project to foster democracy. The situation of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was established months before his death, stressing that his release would be in honor of Khashoggi's spirit.

"As a Saudi citizen, in his country, in the Arab world, for the freedom of the people and the press, he intended to launch an institution to foster democracy, raise the awareness of the people, interest in freedom of expression and the press and monitor the performance of democracy by governments and civil society institutions," he said.

"This project is a widespread tradition in most countries of the world, but it is absent from the Arab world.

Awad explained that he was working on this project in cooperation with Khashoggi, and that it was about to launch without the "martyrdom of Khashoggi" so the emergence of this baby to light will be in honor of the spirit of Khashoggi, who was killed in his consulate in Istanbul on the second of last month.
