The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment adopted 102 countries with its updated list of countries allowed to export live animals of the state, including camels, cattle, sheep, goats and birds, as well as hatching eggs.

The list included the countries allowed to import camels, including: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, while the list of countries allowed to import cattle, including 23 countries.

According to the ministry, this list was based on reports published by the World Organization for Animal Health, and in the case of epidemics of a country that are excluded from the list.

The head of the Department of Animal Health at the ministry, Dr. Kutlam Kiaf, told Emirates Al-Youm that the list of countries allowed to import birds includes 90 countries, and tops the lists of live animals that are imported to the country in terms of the number of countries approved for import. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are the only two countries allowed With the import of all live animals thereof, while the number of countries allowed to import hatching eggs, including 92 countries.

She stressed that the process of updating the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to the list of countries approved for the importation of live animals is considered a procedure implemented by the Ministry periodically to ensure precautionary measures to ensure the safety of imported live animals based on follow-up developments and developments in the epidemiological situation in the world, For countries importing from the reports published by the World Organization for Animal Health, where imports are allowed only from countries that have the capacity to apply health requirements for export, based on the standards of international organizations , Led by the World Organization for Animal Health.

She pointed out that the countries exporting live animals to the state, for follow-up and assessment of the health status periodically, in order to protect the country's livestock from the risk of transboundary diseases, in addition to protecting the UAE consumer and livestock breeders of common animal diseases.

She confirmed that the ministry does not allow any consignment of living animals to the border points, unless it is checked and taken all the necessary inspection procedures to ensure their safety and free from animal diseases epidemiological and infectious. These procedures include examining the documents and inspecting the mission and conducting the virtual examination and laboratory examination, This requires strengthening the efforts and capabilities available in the country's ports, in addition to the need to coordinate with partners.

"In case of non-compliance with the import requirements, the infringing consignments are subject to a 10-fold fine for the import permit, and the consignment shall be returned to its source at the expense of the importer or the waste regulations shall be applied in cooperation with the competent local authorities pursuant to Article 5 of the Council of Ministers' No. 14 of 2014 », confirming the lack of tolerance with the technical requirements for the health situation.
