Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi asked the House of Representatives to vote on the removal of the governor of Nineveh Nawfal al-Akoub and his deputies, against the backdrop of the tragedy of the sinking of the ferry in the river Jolla in Mosul, which killed more than 100 people Thursday.

The presidents, ministers and the House of Representatives in Iraq agreed on the need to address local mismanagement in Mosul following the sinking of the ferry.

The agreement came after an extraordinary meeting of the three presidents, which recommended strengthening the role of the security forces and increasing their capabilities and improving the economic situation of the city. The court also followed up the judicial procedures to hold accountable those who failed and caused the incident.

In the meantime, Al-Jazeera correspondent said that Al-Iqoub had been referred to investigate with a number of local officials, including the water resources official and the Mosul Dam, as well as the owner of the park which owns the ferry that sank in the Tigris River.

The governor of Nineveh province on Friday doused two relatives of the victims of the Mosul ferry during the convoy's escape from angry residents at the scene, witnesses said.
