A lesson in the Social Workbook for the ninth grade, which is responsible for the growing problem of unemployment in the Arab world, led to an increase in the participation of women in the labor market, considering that their work reduced opportunities for male job seekers.

The students of Emirates Today said that the existence of such information in the curriculum confirms that it is not reviewed after it was written, warning of the danger of the existence of false information, has instilled in the minds of children and adolescents negative ideas, racist, directed against women.

The head of the committee of education, youth and culture in the Federal National Council, Naima Sharhan, stressed that the State has adopted - since its inception - the empowerment of women and their participation in the labor market, until it reached the stage of empowering society through women, pointing out that the lesson is contrary to this trend.

Emirates Al-Youm continued with the Ministry of Education to clarify the reasons for including one of the curricula prescribed for students in the country, but this information was not available for response.

The lesson is presented in the first module of the social book for the ninth grade. This unit bears the title "Contemporary Population Issues in the Arab World".

In addition, the transfer of parents is part of a lesson in the social book for the ninth grade, which is being taught in the current semester. It includes the factors that aggravate unemployment in the Arab countries, which, according to the lesson, "the age structure of the population. (15-65), in addition to the poor distribution of the population and their concentration in the main cities, the technological development and the lack of dependence on human labor, the increase in the participation of women in the labor market, the large number of foreign emigration to some Arab countries for the abundance of employment opportunities, the absence of systematic planning and Application of education programs in most Arab countries with The actual needs of the labor market, and not keeping pace with the rapid technological developments taking place in the world ».

"The existence of such information in the lessons on the students confirms that the curriculum is not reviewed after it was written and revised from the information that may give rise to negative ideas in the societies," said Samah Azim, an employee. "The study of increasing unemployment in the Arab countries reinforces false racist beliefs in Children and adolescents against the work of women. Which is completely unacceptable and must be corrected as soon as possible. "

Khawla Abdullah (teacher) said that «there are reasons for unemployment did not appear in the lesson, including that the majority of graduates dream of higher jobs, the young man wants to be a director from the first moment», stressing that «the work of women is not the causes of unemployment, because the right to work, The only efficiency is no sex.

"The employment of women citizens is not a cause of unemployment in the UAE because of the multiplicity of jobs in the UAE, and the leadership's keenness to strengthen women's status, encourage them to engage in the labor market and participate in jobs, as well as jobs that women accept more than men, , Such as teaching profession ».

For her part, the head of the committee of education, youth and culture in the Federal National Council, Naima Sharhan, stressed that «the information contained in the lesson is contrary to the orientations of the state, the UAE has made great strides in the empowerment of Emirati women, and reached the stage of empowerment of society through them. The late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the Federal National Council, , Has also occupied a number of ministerial portfolios in the federal government, and took over the civil, military, judicial and diplomatic roles.

Al-Sharhan pointed out that "His Highness the President of the State, recently directed that Emirati women occupy 50% of the seats of the Federal National Council, bringing the number of seats reserved for them from eight to 20 seats, which confirms the interest of the State to the participation of women in work," adding: In the social book for the ninth grade on the consideration of increasing the proportion of women's participation in work is a cause of unemployment, is completely incompatible with the orientation of the state ».

"Curriculum is a very important tool, because it is the educational outlet, so putting this information into the curriculum instills a false idea in children about women's work, and it may be reflected in the young woman's view of the future," she said.

Khawla Abdullah:

«The work of women is not the causes of unemployment, because of their right to work, and the only criterion is competence, not sex».

Samah Azim:

«The existence of such information in the lessons assessed on students confirms not to review the curriculum after its composition».
