The Dubai Health Authority has announced the establishment of nine new private hospitals, six additional expansion centers and the establishment of 12 new day-care centers by the end of next year as part of the emirate's ongoing efforts to create an attractive environment for investment in the health sector.

Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, Executive Director of Health Regulatory Affairs, said: "The Emirate of Dubai is witnessing an increasing investment in the health sector as a result of support, motivation and government facilities in this field by simplifying procedures for obtaining licenses for professional activity.

He pointed out that the number of health facilities in Dubai increased from 2903 in 2016 to 3213 last year, including 33 hospitals, 912 pharmacies, 43 day surgery centers, 45 laboratories and diagnostic centers and five fertility centers.

According to Mullah, the total number of licensed health professionals during the past year was 38,318 health professionals, including 8203 doctors, 2149 dentists, 16,445 nurses, 11,307 professionals in supporting medicine and 214 professionals in complementary medicine.

Al Mulla predicted that the number of new licenses for health professionals this year in Dubai will reach 2,341 professional licenses with a growth of 6%.

He pointed to the "artery" initiative, launched recently by the Authority, which is an important shift in the private health sector, which is now able to complete the licensing of medical facilities and the licensing of professionals working in these facilities in the most intelligent way, and the simplest procedures in less than 24 hours, Which will contribute to increasing the pace and pace of investment in the health sector and facilitate the process of attracting the best international medical talent to work in Dubai.

He pointed out that there are 28 hospitals in Dubai with international accreditation and five hospitals in the process of obtaining international accreditation, pointing to the supervision and keenness of the Authority to provide distinguished health services to patients in the public and private sectors, in accordance with the best standards, protocols and medical practices.
