The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) has decided to unify the electricity consumption tariff for the freehold category, which includes the housing of non-citizens, starting from 28 fils for the first tranche starting from the current January bill.

Saleh said in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Authority yesterday that the decision comes in line with the year of tolerance, and under the direction of the leadership to maintain the family and social stability of the residents of the state.

According to the new decision, the Authority canceled fixed electricity tariff fees of 45 fils per kilowatt, and return to the system of slides, and applied only to residential groups of apartments and houses. Saleh pointed out that the counters of services, shops, hotels and workers' hostels were excluded.

He added: "The total number of dealers covered by the initiative is 53 thousand in the areas served by the Authority, including 35 thousand dealers benefit from them because they have updated their data, 70% of their consumption falls within the first tranche at 28 fils.

He said that 18,000 of the dealers covered by the initiative are required to update their data so that they can benefit from it by submitting a request through the Authority's main and subsidiary offices or through the website, pointing out that a text message and e-mail will be sent to the customers who have To update their data from the residential categories by changing the tariff for the mentioned category.

Saleh explained that the initiative is to unify the tariff of freehold housing, which was launched in 2015 to serve electricity for apartments and residential houses owned by non-citizens, similar to the residence rate approved by the Commission in segments, based on studies carried out by the Commission recently for the said category, after receiving complaints from tenants Increase cost.

He said last year saw a 4% growth in consumption compared to 2017, due to an increase in the number of its customers.

He stressed the intention of the Authority to implement new projects to meet the future needs of the various sectors of residential, commercial, industrial and investment, and the development of various plans for the required projects, and intends to establish seven stations, at a total cost estimated at 700 million dirhams, during the coming period. Work will begin on the construction of a power distribution station on the Red Island in Ras Al Khaimah within days at a cost of 115 million dirhams and the contract was finally awarded.

Saleh pointed out that the Authority has finally canceled the fees of the certificate of land free of services, which ranged from 100 dirhams to 1000 dirhams, to be free, as well as cancellation of the payment of insurance from the second citizen residence, and will be refunded all amounts paid to the accounts of updated customers for their data during the coming period , And notify them by text messages.
