The video, published on the official YouTube channel of the UK, shows fragments of Shapovalov’s interrogation.

When the investigator asked why he asked to fly to Afghanistan, the man replied that “everything is not as simple as it seems the first time.”

“To be honest, I didn’t have to fly there,” Shapovalov specified.

At the same time, he noted that he did not carry weapons and any piercing and cutting objects with him into the plane, nor did he use drugs and psychotropic substances before the flight.

Earlier, the Investigation Committee opened a criminal case against Shapovalov under Part 2 of Art. 211 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Hijacking an aircraft involving the threat of violence”).
