It snowed in the east and south of Germany last night. In the lowlands have fallen to three inches of fresh snow, said meteorologist Marco Manitta of the German Weather Service (DWD).
In the Erzgebirge, in the Thuringian Forest, in the Vogtland and in the foothills of the Alps south of Munich, one to three centimeters of snow fell - even in valleys and in the lowlands. It had snowed about in the Middle Franconian court, in the Saxon town of Chemnitz and south of Dresden. "Easily sugared" are the places in the lowlands, however, only, said Manitta.
It is not the first time since last winter that snow also falls to lower altitudes. According to Manitta, there were already two "snow events": at the end of October, be in Swabia near Augsburg and a few days later in the Eifel. The white splendor stay longer this time, however, because it is cooler.

Snow in Germany: a little winterAccording to Manitta, the first "noteworthy snow" will fall tomorrow. Affected are Northern Bavaria, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. In flat situations, the ceiling can be up to five inches high.
The DWD predicts maximum temperatures between minus one degree in the Harz and five degrees on the Upper Rhine for tomorrow. During the night of Wednesday, it will be cloudy or overcast. It could be regionally smooth.
On Wednesday, the DWD predicts many clouds. Mostly dry, most likely it could rain in the low mountain area. Peak values in the west and at the sea to six degrees, otherwise one to four degrees.
