For decades, it has been a tradition for star designer Karl Lagerfeld to appear at the end of his fashion shows. But this year the spectators of the Haute Couture show for the spring and summer collection in Paris waited in vain.
"Mr. Lagerfeld felt exhausted and asked the head of his studio, Virginie Viard, to represent him," Chanel said in a statement. Viard has been working for Lagerfeld for about 30 years and is considered his right-hand man. In the past, she usually accepted the final applause together with him.
At first it was said that Lagerfeld would appear for the second show. But he was missing there, too. The two haute couture shows were shown at the Paris Grand Palais. When the first show ended without a camp field, guests were disappointed. When he was missing in the second show, the concern for the world star grew.
