A high cleric of the Catholic Church in Dusseldorf is accused of sexual harassment. It is about a case that should have occurred in 2012 against an adult intern, said the Cologne Archdiocese.

The note was received last Thursday. The Dusseldorf city dean - the representative of the Catholic Church in the city - was then released by the Cologne Cardinal Rainer Woelki until the completion of the initiated procedures. The accused cleric deny the charge.

The archdiocese has forwarded the appropriate notice according to the prosecutor. In addition, one has independently opened an internal church procedure. "We do not tolerate any form of sexual assault and consistently follow up the relevant information and suspicions," said Woelki.

According to "RP-Online" there was already in the nineties against the priest the accusation that he should have molested an older teenager. At that time he had been committed to a therapy and have also completed this. An opinion of the bishopric revealed that the priest could again work without conditions.
