According to Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonovosti news agency, there are already models—a type of artificial intelligence—that produce a specific weather forecast.

“For now it is only being adjusted by the weather forecaster, but perhaps every year we will trust such forecasts more and more. But each forecast is signed by a certain person, and this person is responsible for it. Still, the final responsibility remains with the releasing weather forecaster,” she explained.

The head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, believes that in the future, most likely, a person will be needed, but in order to take into account all local weather features.

“Mountain-valley winds, breezes and so on. The development of AI is visible and felt. Over the years that I have been working, progress has, of course, been obvious,” the specialist emphasized.

Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand clarified that there are a number of factors where AI is already working.

“The calculation and solution of the system of equations is corrected by AI. You need to understand that this is not a opposition, but a synergy of AI and the tasks of mathematicians, physicists and weather forecasters,” he concluded.

Earlier, Anatoly Tsygankov, deputy head of the situation center of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, in a conversation with RT, spoke about weather anomalies in some regions of Russia.
