Several British film and TV stars are taking part in an auction for humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. These include the actresses and actors Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange), Brian Cox (Succession), Alison Oliver (Saltburn) and Amiee Lou Wood (Sex Education).

Up for auction are, for example, an online reading lesson with Swinton or theater tickets for Cox's new play "A Long Day's Journey Into Night" as well as a meeting with the actor. British director Gurinder Chadha is offering an extra role in her new film for sale. Actor Josh O'Conner can show you how to prepare the perfect porridge.

The money will go to the British aid organization “Medical Aid for Palestinians” (MAP). These provide emergency medical assistance in the Gaza Strip, for example, but also offer psychological care and support for people with disabilities.

You can take part in the auction here.

The UN has been warning of a famine catastrophe in the Gaza Strip for several weeks. Around 1 million people are in acute emergency there. Israel has been waging a war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip for about six months. The trigger was the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Around 1,140 people were killed and 250 others were abducted to the Gaza Strip. According to the health authority in Gaza, over 32,000 people have died due to the Israeli counterattack. This information cannot be independently verified.

Despite massive international criticism, the Israeli government wants to attack the city of Rafah, which is overcrowded with refugees.
