Last month, police arrested a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both junior high school students living in Osaka Prefecture, for allegedly threatening a 22-year-old university student from Shiga Prefecture with the purpose of extorting money and causing her to fall from a building in Chuo Ward, Osaka. The boy, who was 13 years old at the time, was arrested on suspicion of robbery resulting in death, and the boy was reported to a child welfare center.

According to police, the girl is suspected of luring the university student to the 6th floor of a seven-story building, where the two boys were waiting for him on the lower floor.

Upon investigation, the girl admitted to the charges, while the 15-year-old boy partially denied the charges.

Of the three, the Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office sent the girl and a 15-year-old boy to family court on the 28th, accusing them of delinquency that would amount to death in confinement.

The family court will now decide on the punishment after investigating the living conditions and family environment of the two.
