After an elementary school girl in Tokyo's Machida city committed suicide after complaining that she had been bullied, the girl's parents said that the report released in February by the city's investigation committee, which looked into the school's response to the incident, revealed that the girl's parents had not confirmed the fact of the bullying. They requested the city to re-investigate the certification, claiming that the investigation into the certification was insufficient.

In November 2020, a 6th grade girl who attended an elementary school in Machida City died leaving behind a suicide note in which she was said to have been bullied by a classmate, and the facts and response of the school and the board of education have been revealed. In February, the city's investigation committee, made up of lawyers and others, released a report that found that multiple incidents of bullying had occurred, but also concluded that "the causes are complex and cannot be identified."



Regarding this, the girl's parents held a press conference on the 28th, along with their attorney, and announced that they had requested a re-investigation from the city, claiming that the investigation into the facts of bullying was insufficient.



In this case, the attorney representing the case identified in the report as bullying, ▼Chat exchanges between classmates such as ``I hope you die'' and ▼``Pranks'' towards girls are only part of bullying. They also point out that a questionnaire survey of all children requested by the bereaved families has not been conducted.



At a press conference, the girl's father said, ``If we don't clarify the causal relationship with the bullying, the same thing will happen again.I just want to know the reason why my daughter was cornered, and I want the city to take a sympathetic response.'' ” he said.



Regarding the request for re-examination, Machida City said, ``We cannot comment at this stage.''
