On March 25, local time in Lebanon, the 22nd batch of China's peacekeeping construction engineer detachment to Lebanon overcame unfavorable factors such as the harsh climate environment and turbulent security situation, and completed the task of upgrading and renovating the military explosion-proof observation post of the UNIFIL headquarters with high quality and efficiency. It was received by UNIFIL. Highly praised by the command.

It is reported that the original observation post and surrounding defenses have been severely deformed due to long-term rain erosion, wind and sun exposure, and have basically lost their original protective capabilities, posing major safety risks. After accepting the task, the team sent professional construction forces to conduct on-site surveys, fully assess safety risks, and carefully formulate construction plans, ensuring the orderly and steady progress of the construction tasks.

During the construction period, the construction team carried out operations in the order of "removing the old gabion protective wall, leveling the site, building a new gabion protective wall, and hardening the foundation." Due to the small construction area and steep slope, vehicles and machinery cannot operate at close range, so construction team members can only work manually using hand-carrying and shoulder-carrying methods.

In order to increase the stability of the gabion protective wall, the construction team innovatively used a variety of fixing methods such as cross, tic-tac-toe, multi-wire winding, and steel bar penetration. During the construction process, the workers had to go to the beach every day to carry stones to build walls and stabilize the foundation. Although the workload increased, it added to the safety of the camp.

After two weeks of continuous intense operations, the unit completed its mission one week ahead of schedule, building a solid and reliable protective barrier for friendly peacekeeping forces. It is understood that the next step of the detachment will be to organize professional construction forces to conduct inspections and repairs of the defense fortification systems such as defense posts, observation posts, and protective fences throughout the camp to further eliminate shortcomings in the dead corners of the camp.

It is understood that since its deployment in December last year, the unit has given full play to its professional skills and completed 5 annual construction tasks and 21 temporary tasks with high standards, including the upgrading of camp defense facilities and the UNIFIL border camp protection project. The excellent Chinese quality, efficient Chinese speed, and first-class Chinese standards have won high praise from UNIFIL Command.
