  • New Series 'Let love die', Ester's next

I am not the only one who thinks that Ester Expósito is doing well to find her place in international audiovisuals. Spain has become too small for a star like her. Expósito is not the best actress, of her generation or of any other, but she is

one of those who has best understood that when one has the looks, attitude and opportunities of a star, the smartest thing to do is to go

for it. Starting from here, seeing her in

Bandidos

playing what seems like a parody of an Ester Expósito character is somewhere

between disturbing and embarrassing

. The sense of humor in this Mexican series is very basic, but it is enough to make a joke about how Lilí, played by Ester Expósito, looks a lot like Ester Expósito.

They could thus, incidentally, pay tribute to Julia Roberts in

Ocean's 12

. The meta-cinematic game that Steven Soderbergh (director) and Jerry Weintraub (screenwriter) proposed in that film continues to work as it did on the first day. Ester Expósito also continues to function (as a star) like the first day. But

it's time for some of her work to work

as well as

Elite

.

The Spanish woman is not to blame for

Bandidos

being the disaster that it is. Although maybe it's not such a disaster and I'm the one who doesn't understand his tone. This Netflix production is not the first Mexican series (nor the first Mexican Netflix series) that baffles me with

its tackyness, its histrionics and its acceleration

. Sometimes I think that the platform produces these things thinking about children seeing them.

Bandidos

is

DuckTales

without ducks.

At the helm of this series is the experienced Pablo Tébar, a screenwriter who has worked in all types of genres.

I would like to think that Mexico is not a genre

, but when it comes to making television pastes of adventure and entanglement it does seem to be. Writing this I feel like those who amalgamate and simplify Iranian cinema, Japanese food or abstract art, but

Bandidos

gives me no reason to give up my own simplification. The series bores me, attacks me and makes me extremely nervous. I can only tolerate it (not enjoy it) when I convince myself that I'm watching a Disney Channel series from the mid-90s. But then some tacky sexual joke snaps me out of my survival daydream and I return to reality:

Bandidos

is simply a horror. . Or I'm just an adult. Or what do I know.

There will come a time when certain Netflix releases are not even known to those of us who write about series. Although this weekly section is dedicated to criticizing mediocre series, I always try to get something at least interesting out of the text.

All series, no matter how bad they are, are worth something

. And all series articles, no matter how cruel they are, should provide something to whoever reads them. I'm afraid that his only contribution is to confirm that Ester Expósito is a star. Also warn him that at some point that star will have to take charge of a worthwhile project. How many more

Bandits

can resist his light before going out?
