Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi said: “We have drawn up a plan to hold a series of in-depth meetings and dialogues with publishers around the world, and the beginning was with the Arab Publishers Union and the Egyptian Publishers Association, because the Arab publishing sector has promising opportunities, because the percentage of Arab youth is among the highest in the world, and this The class is thirsty for knowledge and looks forward to everything new and creative, and this constitutes an incentive and inspiration for publishers.

This came during a meeting of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, who is the first Arab woman and the second woman in the world to assume the presidency of the International Publishers Association, with the members of the Arab Publishers Association, and the members of the Egyptian Publishers Association in Cairo.

She explained, "The Union is working to create the factors that stimulate and support creativity in the publishing sector, foremost among which is the protection of intellectual property rights and the consolidation of the concept of freedom of publication."

On how publishers deal with the repercussions of the Corona crisis on the publishing sector in general, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi said: “The pandemic is an opportunity to reconsider working patterns in the publishing world and create new and different styles, and we will work together to support the electronic publishing sector in Arab markets.” .

Book industry

During the meeting, Sheikha Al Qasimi listened to the interventions of a number of officials and publishers who are members of the Egyptian Publishers Union, as they addressed the union’s efforts to advance the reality of the book industry in Egypt, and the union’s members stopped at trying the platform they launched to include publishers ’data and facilitate their logistical, organizational and marketing work, noting The impact of these initiatives on opening new areas for workers in the knowledge industry, and providing opportunities through which to support the experience of innovation and renewal in printing, publishing and marketing the Arabic book.

For his part, the President of the Arab Publishers Union, Mohamed Rashad, considered that the first visit of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, in her official capacity as President of the International Publishers Association, is an appreciation and respect for Egypt's position on the map of Arab and global publishing.
