"Linquan boy kneels and guards mother suffering from cancer" continued: mother has passed away, "lost contact" father refused to go home

Recently, a video of "an 11-year-old boy in Linquan County, Fuyang, Anhui, kneeling alone waiting for his mother with cancer" was posted on the Internet, which was teary.

On the afternoon of November 30, The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) learned from the child’s uncle Yuan that the child’s mother died at the Linquan County People’s Hospital at about 1 am on the 29th due to advanced liver cancer.

According to an official Weibo report of Anhui Public Channel on November 26, Mr. Yuan said that his sister Yuan Jinli, 40 years old, suffered from breast cancer in 2016, and the cancer cells spread to her liver and other organs.

In November 2020, Yuan Jinli was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer.

He said that the online video was filmed on November 15th. At that time, his sister Yuan Jinligang was hospitalized and was relatively conscious.

With tears in her eyes, the child asked her mother to work hard to overcome the illness, and at the same time promised to work hard to enter university in the future and repay her mother.

Yuan Jinli was unable to speak normally and could only touch the child's face with her palm.

The aforementioned report also stated that according to Mr. Yuan, his "brother-in-law" has been out of contact for many years and has not been able to contact him.

He hoped that the father of the child could return to Linquan and see his family.

On the afternoon of November 30th, a staff member of the Women's Federation of Fuyang City, Anhui Province told The Paper that the parents of the aforementioned boy did not receive a marriage certificate, only a de facto marriage.

The father of the child has always suspected that the boy is not his own.

According to Mr. Yuan, a paternity test was done at that time, and the results confirmed that the child and the father are indeed in a father-son relationship.

But when the boy was three years old, his father ran away from home on the pretext of buying milk powder, and has not appeared since.

However, Mr. Yuan did not provide relevant materials for the paternity test.

The aforementioned staff member stated that the boy’s wish was for his father to return.

But when the women's federation of the county called the boy's father, when the boy called "Dad", his father hung up the phone.

Later, when the County Women's Federation called the boy's father again, the call was not connected.

"Now the boy's father is not showing up, and it is not possible to confirm his abandonment for the time being, so he cannot be forced to hold him accountable. The follow-up is still mainly through consultation." The staff member said.

The aforementioned staff also stated that the local education department has done a good job of guaranteeing school for them, and the boy is attending the local school; in addition, the relevant local department has initiated temporary guardianship and judicial assistance procedures, and the boy is currently taken care of by his uncle Yuan.

At the same time, the local public security agency has stepped in to find the boy's father, saying that the specific progress is inconvenient to disclose.

On the afternoon of the 30th, Mr. Yuan told The Paper that if his nephew's father is unwilling to take care of the children, he is willing to raise his nephew.

In the afternoon of the same day, a staff member of the Red Cross Society of Linquan County stated that on November 23, they opened a donation channel for their children.

Regarding the child's custody rights, the local civil affairs bureau has intervened in this matter.
