China News Service, Changchun, November 27 (Reporter Guo Jia) Yang Haitao, 43, has not been home for nearly a week.

From November 18th to 20th, Jilin Province encountered a rare strong rain, snow, freezing, and windy weather, causing widespread damage to the power grid.

He is leading a team to repair it.

The new heavy fog in Changchun caused a headache for Yang Haitao, director of the emergency repair center of the Jilin Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Company.

After the heavy fog, the electric tower was covered with a layer of light frost, which intensified the slippery degree of the electric tower, and electric workers stepped on it like skating.

The power workers did not retreat at all.

What they are rushing to repair is the highest voltage transmission line in Jilin Province-500kV Jinlong Line 1 and 2, which is one of the aorta for power transmission in Jilin Province.

Yang Haitao's repair team put up a "snake array" at the scene.

"We have our people on all lines from the No. 43 electric tower on the 500kV Jinlong Line 1 and No. 2 to the 115 electric tower." He said that many electric towers are still thick with ice, and electric workers are doing their best to remove the ice.

The reporter saw at the scene that the most severely damaged No. 50 electrical tower had been "stopped" and broken.

Yang Haitao said that the ice formed by freezing rain on the wire is very thick, with a radius of six or seven centimeters in some places. In addition, the strong wind blows it and eventually causes the electrical tower to be damaged or broken.

Removal of the damaged part of the No. 50 electric tower was the key task of the day. At noon, the reporter noticed that electric workers were eating on the tower.

Workers under the tower told reporters that the electric tower was slippery and difficult to climb, and it was not easy to go up one time, and had to "handle one bite" in order to gain progress.

For Yang Haitao, such a scene is no stranger. He has experienced two freezing rains.

In 2008, he led a team to Hunan to fight the ice disaster.

In his view, "Hunan was more affected by the disaster, but some places in Jilin were more affected this time."

Recently, the local temperature has picked up slightly, which is also what Yang Haitao is worried about.

He explained that once the snow starts to melt, it will cause trouble for large-scale equipment and material trucks to enter the site. "So we prefer to be colder. It doesn't matter if it is bitter."

In the past few days, electric workers have been rushing to repair damaged power grids in severe cold day and night.

After noon, the damaged part of the tower was successfully removed.

Soon, the new tower was installed.

Yang Haitao sighed in relief, his voice had become hoarse.

In the past few days, in order to grab progress, Yang Haitao led the team to work until 7 or 8 in the evening.

It is expected that all damaged electrical towers on 500kV Jinlong Line 1 and Line 2 will be repaired around December 3.

"For the sake of thousands of lights, Jilin Electric Power does not count the cost." Yang Haitao said. (Finish)
