Christophe Barbier specifies that his departure was made on good terms with the newspaper.

"It's my decision, taken in perfect consultation with management," he reveals.

"I was already invested a lot elsewhere. I hardly wrote in the newspaper anymore, except for little theater chronicles or books. So it was a bit the nature of things, it all went smoothly."

Success thanks to new blood?

The journalist hopes that his departure would help the emergence of young journalists.

"It is normal for a new generation to arrive, for new skills to arrive," he explains.

L'Express

has never been more successful than when it was concerned about its new blood."

Even if he recognizes that he is leaving a struggling weekly.

"There have been several forms of departure lately at

L'Express

: there has been a social plan, a departure window, a cession clause ...", he recalls.

"I signed up for that wave."

For its part, the magazine announces that Christophe Barbier will "devote himself to new editorial, media and cultural projects".

He has new theater projects in the works and a book to be published.
