This year is "commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea." Qi Zhenrong, a veteran who participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, has a wish to meet his comrades who fought together that year. We helped him realize this wish.

"Old platoon leader, how are you"

Some time ago, the stories of two veterans Qi Zhenrong and Zhao Guozhen on the battlefield to resist US aggression and aid Korea were reported by the media.

An old man Qi Zhenrong in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in his late years, saw the story of an old man Zhao Guozhen in Qingdao City, Shandong Province through the Internet. Qi Zhenrong recognized it all at once, "He is my old platoon leader."

Later, Qi Zhenrong asked a reporter from Chinanews.com to contact Zhao Guozhen. He wanted to talk to old comrades-in-arms and platoon leader who had fought on the battlefield together 70 years ago.

After being contacted by reporters, the sons of the two old men agreed to let the two old men meet and talk via video on November 5, so there was a scene at the beginning of the article.

1200 kilometers, 70 years, 90 years old, when the video screen was connected, the two old people looked at each other with excitement, saying "Platoon leader Zhao, hello, 70 years have passed, we are all old." The two old men brought them back to the midst of their prosperous years.

Qi Zhenrong said: "Old platoon leader, we used to defend our homeland on the Korean battlefield together, and now we can all live healthy. This is in exchange for those comrades who died on the battlefield. We will miss them forever."

To the death to defend the military order

In 1951, Qi Zhenrong and Zhao Guozhen went to the Korean battlefield with the 603 regiment of the 201st division of the 67th Army of the Field Army.

The two were both signal soldiers. They participated in the battle against Kimseong in North Korea in November 1951, and the counterattack against Kimseong in June 1953 in North Korea. They used life to ensure smooth communication to ensure timely and accurate military orders.

In the video, the two old people recalled their experiences on the battlefield together.

Zhao Guozhen recalled that the geography of the Korean battlefield was harsh and the US military was well equipped for combat.

"At that time, our communication equipment was rather rudimentary. Everyone only had a wired telephone set on their shoulders and a small number of telephone lines, which brought great difficulties to communication during the battle. With the heroic fighting of comrades, our cable platoon overcame difficulties many times to ensure smooth communication, and was hailed by our comrades as a "continuously bombed line of communication."

"In the Jincheng Blocking Station, I was stationed at the information transfer station between the front and the headquarters. The phone of the headquarters must be communicated to the front. When the wire is blown, it will be connected in a few seconds to ensure timely delivery of the headquarters' orders. "Qi Zhenrong said when recalling his work experience, "Although our wiring work is very ordinary, but it is the lifeline, which is related to how the battle ahead is fought and how to win."

Talking about the dangerous situation on the battlefield, Qi Zhenrong said: "The communications department was one of the targets of the enemy’s firepower blockade. At that time, we were stationed in an air-raid shelter. During the second pandemic, three comrades in arms and I stayed at our posts. We continued to fight until the armistice was announced, and we remained by the switchboard." Qi Zhenrong recalled.

Through the video, the two old men also missed the comrades who had fought side by side on the battlefield. Some of them were still alive and some had already died.

When the old man Qi Zhenrong recalled the scene when the deputy head Cao Sheng died, the two old people fell into contemplation at the same time.

"Old chief, don't worry about it, don't worry about it, take good care of your body, let's just wait to enjoy the happiness, this is what the old man said." Qi Zhenrong said.

The reporter learned that in recent years, when the country encountered natural disasters, the elderly Qi Zhenrong always took the initiative to donate money and materials. After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia this year, the elderly also donated 10,000 yuan.

When the old man served as the director of the Party Committee of the Military Retreat, he actively improved the environment of the retreat.

The elderly Zhao Guozhen also actively participated in various activities. Recently, he was invited to give a report and give a speech in the naval force, which played a positive role in the development of the army and the peace of mind of the soldiers.
