Spins, somersaults, baskets and show.

This Tuesday evening, while the auditions for the 15th edition of

La France a un incredible

talent are continuing, a troop of rather special athletes will try their luck.

Coming from Vendée, the Barjots Dunkers team hopes to seduce the jury and the public with its acrobatic basketball act.

“We haven't seen the images so it's a little stressful, but normally it will look good, promises Alex Brachet, member of the troop.

It's a ten-person show on stage with four trampolines and two baskets.

We jump, we cross ... It will send in all directions!

"

On the menu, a lot of acrobatics, spectacular jumps sometimes more than 3.50m above the ground, skillful juggling with the ball, all sprinkled with a good dose of synchronization.

A number specially created for the show (which the Barjots Dunkers had dreamed of for a long time) which reflects years and years of training for this troupe set up in 2005 in Rocheservière… “We were four college students, and after seeing a demo in Nantes , we wanted to go for the end-of-year party of the sports association, recalls Alex.

The manager agreed, we rehearsed for three months.

The show went well, it was cute, what!

And then basketball clubs started to invite us to perform… ”

One hundred and twenty performances last year

Still based in Vendée, the Barjots Dunkers now have 19 members, aged 17 to 32, some of whom make a living from their passion.

With three trainings per week and even a training club to ensure the next generation, the professional troupe has managed to build a small notoriety in the world of basketball and events, with 120 performances last year, including a part in international (Qatar, Morocco, England, Germany, China, Ukraine, etc.).

Despite the Covid-19 epidemic which upsets their plans, the Barjot Dunkers still dream today of performing at the Olympic Games… and of going further in the M6 program?

“Maybe,” smiles Alex, “but we can't say anything about it!
