High school students realize opera performance without losing to Corona's disaster November 2, 21:50

While music performances and events have been canceled in various places due to the influence of the new coronavirus, high school students who have a music department in Sagamihara City repeat practice while making various efforts to prevent infection and show the results. The opera performance has been realized.

"Sagamihara Yaei High School" in Sagamihara City is the only prefectural high school in Kanagawa Prefecture that has a music department, and holds opera performances every spring as a place to showcase the results of daily practice.

This year, I was planning to release the opera "The Magic Flute" composed by Mozart, but due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the school was closed and the opera performance was forced to be canceled.

Even after the school was reopened, the situation continued to be uncertain whether the performance could be held, but the students did not give up and continued to practice online remotely at home and practice part-time with a small number of people.

Partly due to the enthusiasm of these students, it was decided to hold a performance in the fall on the condition that thorough infection control measures be taken.

The students and the school had many discussions on how to prevent the flying infection, and in the whole practice, a partition about 2 meters high was set up between the performer and the orchestra who sang loudly.

In addition, all performers and stringed instrument players wore masks, and among the wind instruments, the flute was equipped with a special shield to prevent the spread of flying.

In terms of production, we also devised a way to prevent the sleeping characters from touching by clapping their hands in front of their faces when they shook their bodies.

Fukakazu Nomura, a third-year student playing the violin, said, "There was an impact of the new coronavirus, such as the lack of classes, but in the actual performance, everyone came together in front of the audience. I hope I can show it off. "

And on the 29th of last month (October), an hour and a half opera performance began in the hall of Sagamihara City, with about 300 parents watching over it.

While wearing masks and face shields, the students echoed a clear singing voice in the venue, showed a passionate performance using their whole body, and a big applause was sent from the venue.

Mitsuha Ozawa, a third-year student who played the role of the heroine, said, "I was sad that the music that supported my heart was easily taken away by the influence of the new coronavirus, so I am happy to be able to have a concert today. I felt it again. I want to continue playing music without forgetting this feeling even when I grow up. "

Shinichiro Ihara, Principal of Sagamihara Yaei High School, said, "I think it is meaningful for the students to think through how to make music even in the corona wreckage and reach the realization. We will continue to hold concerts while exploring various things. I want to go. "
