  • The Rennes singer Jeanne Bonjour has just released a cover of the song “Cabeza” by rapper Oboy.

  • The young woman opted for a successful classical and lyrical music version.

  • Often compared to the singer Angèle, the artist divides her life between music and theater.

There is, a priori, nothing in common between rapper Oboy and singer Jeanne Bonjour.

Author of one of the hits of the summer with his heady “Cabeza”, the solid Franco-Malagasy rapper has nevertheless seen the slender singer from Rennes take up his song with 14 million views on Youtube.

Recorded this summer in the old church of Saint-Etienne, in Rennes, this classical music and lyric song version of one of the most popular rap titles of the moment was born out of a lost bet.

“We listened to this song three or four times a day when we were filming.

It had become our break.

And Pierre-Marie (the director) challenged me to take it back, ”says the young woman, who has not yet posted 20 springs.

The one who is often compared to the now famous Angela, then looked at the arrangements to develop her personal version of the mumble-rap hit that made the youngest dance this summer.

“I listen to a lot of rap but I wanted to offer something offbeat.

We thought about classical music, we wanted an environment of confession, on a masterful side ”.

The idea of filming in a cathedral was considered but quickly abandoned, the lyrics not really being politically correct.

“I have the feeling that the song is about a man who is alone.

It's tragic, sad.

We have the feeling that he got lost in drugs.

It's like a cry for help, ”says the young woman, before adding.

"Or maybe he's just a stoned guy."

The comparison with Angèle?

"It's flattering, but ..."

With this recovery, Jeanne Bonjour (that's her real name) hopes to attract a few glances to her young project, born in the classes of the Lycée Bréquigny, in Rennes.

This is where this musician's daughter began to sing, after having trained on the violin and the piano without ever taking a music theory lesson.

Enrolled in the theater conservatory of the Breton capital, the young woman divides her time between comedy and music, enjoying mixing the two through well-crafted clips.

The comparison with Angèle?

" That's flattering.

We have a bit of the same aesthetic, that's normal.

But I would like to break away from it, to remain authentic ”.

In residence at 4Bis until Thursday and the start of confinement, the young artist is working on an EP that she hopes to see out in the spring.

“His name will be 13. That's the age I was when I experienced a trauma.

A mixture of celebration, loneliness and drugs that hurt me a lot ”.

A story that recalls the one evoked by Oboy in his hit.

Everything but a coincidence.
