Alain Rey, famous linguist and tutelary figure of the "Le Robert" dictionary, died in Paris on the night of Tuesday 27 to Wednesday 28 October, at the age of 92, announced his wife and Le Robert editions.

Young graduate in literature, he led the team created in 1951 by Paul Robert to develop a new "alphabetical and analog" dictionary of the French language, which would give birth in 1964 to the "Grand Robert" in six volumes, then in 1967 at Petit Robert, before other variations.

Éditions Le Robert is very sad to inform you of the death of Alain Rey.

Linguist and lexicographer, he was one of the creators of Le Robert dictionaries.

He continued to build his work in our house until his last days.
