[Explanation] Late autumn has arrived, and the Northeast region has ushered in a "vegetable hoarding" boom, and citizens can be seen purchasing hundreds of catties of vegetables everywhere in the streets and alleys.

On October 24, the reporter came to the Donglai Vegetable Market in Daowai District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, and learned that the annual stocking of autumn vegetables probably starts on October 1st and ends at the end of the month.

Every family must pickle sauerkraut in winter, and we have to pickle a few jars of sauerkraut like our company.

I bought five to six hundred catties for green onions, and more than one thousand catties for cabbage.

[Explanation] According to merchants, the temperature in the northeast is low in winter, and transportation in the early years is inconvenient. If you want to eat fresh vegetables in winter, you can only rely on outbound transportation and some greenhouse vegetables. Fresh vegetables are expensive and the quantity is small, so they will buy some in this season. The "Old Four" mainly consist of cabbage, potatoes, green onions and radishes.

  [Contemporary] Mr. Harbin Citizen Guan

After autumn, you will stock up a little like this cabbage, potatoes, carrots, white radishes, carrots and this green onion every year.

For me, it is actually a kind of custom, a kind of inheritance, something that may be in my bones up to now, maybe I can still think about it all the time, form a habit, I will hoard a little.

[Explanation] During the interview, the reporter learned that most people born in the 50s and 60s still have the habit of hoarding autumn vegetables every year. They are the "main force" for hoarding autumn vegetables every year. This is not only a winter custom for them, but also related to their family members. The lively atmosphere of being together and the ardent preparations for looking forward to their children returning home are a kind of preservation of tradition in their hearts.

Besides, the children come back. They come back every Sunday. The children come back together with a few people. There are more people in the family. You are like me, a girl, two grandchildren, six people. Do you have to prepare something? .

Don’t panic if you have food at home. That’s the truth. After eating one pound and then buying another pound, you will feel uncomfortable, and your heart will not be at ease, so you should do it in the old traditional way.

[Explanation] Nowadays, living standards are constantly improving and transportation is more developed. It is not difficult to eat fresh vegetables in the winter in the Northeast, but the Northeast people's habit of hoarding autumn vegetables has been retained.

Although the number of citizens hoarding autumn vegetables is decreasing every year, and many young people's concept of farming vegetables has also changed, hoarding vegetables is still an unforgettable youth memory in many Northeast people.

When it comes to buying autumn vegetables, most of them are still memories. I think about things from my childhood. In fact, the pace of life is fast now, and then the income may be higher. It is already in our generation and rarely involves buying autumn vegetables. It's still a good memory. I think more of the time when the adults carried a large bunch of green onions in the front, and we carried a small bunch of green onions in the back and followed along.
