The FO prison union is worried about what is going on in Perpignan prison and alerted the management of the penitentiary center, a few days after the attack in Conflans and the beheading of history and geography professor Samuel Paty.

: “The various structures of the Perpignan penitentiary center are not adapted to guarantee a real separation of inmates incarcerated for facts related to Islamist terrorism from other inmates, known as common law.

"

An overcrowded prison

The most worrying according to the union remains the mixture between juvenile detainees and radicalized detainees.

Four juvenile detainees are thus currently next to two radicalized Islamist terrorist prisoners (TIS): “The Perpignan prison is far from a so-called tight management between them.

"

The union denounces an overcrowded prison with “76 mattresses on the floor” and unaccompanied minors, by making “mentally fragile or immature prisoners who could find themselves manipulated, recruited by detainees with ill-intention”.
