The experts will help answer the Nobel Committee's questions about individual nominations or candidates for the Nobel Prize.
In addition, in January each year, they must submit a reasoned overview of their respective area.
"One or two experts will initially be appointed for each of the African countries, the Spanish-speaking area, the Arabic-Persian-speaking area, the East Asian-speaking area, the Slavic-speaking area and the Indian-speaking area," the Academy said in a press release.
The external experts must be able to work anonymously if they so wish, the Academy writes.
