The prefecture will disinfect and slaughter pigs.

According to Gunma Prefecture, a pig farm in Takasaki City sent a message to the prefecture shortly after noon on the 25th that "the number of pig deaths is increasing", and the national research institutes reported the blood of three dead piglets. As a result of inspection, it was confirmed that both were infected with CSF and classical swine fever.

At this pig farm, diarrhea has appeared mainly in piglets since the beginning of this month, and more than 200 pigs have died so far.

The pig farm was inoculating the vaccine one after another, but the three animals tested had diarrhea and were not vaccinated.

This is the first time that CSF infection has been confirmed in pigs at pig farms in the prefecture, and the prefecture has decided to disinfect and slaughter all 5,390 pigs that have been bred since the 27th. ..

On the other hand, there are 18 pig farms within a 10km radius of this pig farm, but since they have already been vaccinated, there are no restrictions on shipping.

In the prefecture, 55 wild boars have been confirmed to be infected with CSF since September last year, and a wild boar infected with CSF was found at a place about 5 km away from this pig farm later this month, but it was infected. The route is unknown, and the prefecture is planning to investigate in detail in cooperation with the national government.

Governor Yamamoto of Gunma Prefecture said, "We have taken the initiative to take measures against CSF, but this situation is extremely distressing. We want to firmly control infection and protect Gunma's leading pig farming industry in Japan." ..

Classical swine fever was confirmed in Gifu prefecture for the first time in 26 years in Japan in September, and has spread to the Chubu region, Kanto region, and Okinawa prefecture, and a total of more than 160,000 pigs have been culled in 10 prefectures. I am.

For this reason, the national government recommends vaccination of pigs in areas where infection has been confirmed in wild boars, and vaccination is carried out in 25 prefectures including Gunma prefecture.

Under these circumstances, Japan was revoked from the CSF's "clean country" certification by the OIE (World Organization for Animal Health), an international organization that monitors livestock infectious diseases earlier this month.

In response to this outbreak, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has dispatched staff to Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture to proceed with the investigation.
