  • The "more restrictive" measures announced Friday to fight against the resumption of the epidemic in Nice are extended to the entire department of Alpes-Maritimes.

  • Groups are limited to 10 people in public spaces and large events must also limit their tonnage to 1,000 visitors, instead of 5,000.

Nice is no longer the only municipality concerned by the "more restrictive" measures announced on Friday by the prefect to halt the resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Its provisions, such as the ban on groupings of more than ten people in public space, apply from this Tuesday to all municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Several orders were taken when the incidence rate of the new coronavirus (the number of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants) reached 153 for the department, where wearing a mask is mandatory in the largest municipalities.

This rate is currently 160 for the city of Nice alone, specifies the ARS Paca at

"Sacrifices now" to avoid re-containment

Private gatherings of more than ten people are therefore now prohibited "in parks, gardens, beaches and on the quays" throughout the territory.

Major “cultural, festive and sporting” events must also limit their tonnage to 1,000 visitors, instead of 5,000.

Sunday, the Nice-PSG match was played behind closed doors.

As in Nice, the drinking establishments of all the other municipalities of the Côte d'Azur must close between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The take-away sale of alcohol and its consumption on public roads is prohibited after 8 p.m.

It is also no longer allowed to play music outdoors to avoid gatherings.

Guest of France Bleu Azur this Tuesday morning, the prefect Bernard Gonzalez indicated that, for the moment, "the measure of reconfinement is not necessary".

But he also warns that this option, activated in several countries, was not "an illusion", calling on the Azureans to "make sacrifices now" to avoid it.
