Artists and intellectuals mourn a pioneer in the theater and one of the founders of the Sharjah National Theater

Mohammed Al-Hamr gets off after a march full of achievements

Emirati artist, Mohammed Al-Hamar, who is one of the founders of the theater in Sharjah, passed away the day before yesterday.

A large number of artists and media professionals mourned the deceased, as soon as his daughter’s husband, Mahmoud al-Sahlawi, announced the news through his Twitter account. The Ajman National Theater and the Theater Society mourned him.

The artist, Dr. Habib Ghuloom, mourned him, through his accounts on social media, and wrote: “The able artist Muhammad Al-Hamar, one of the founders of the theatrical movement in the Sharjah National Theater, is God’s protection..We ask the Almighty to have mercy on him and forgive him, and that the highest paradise resides in him and his family and loved ones inspire patience and solace. To God and to Him we shall return ».

Artist Ahmed Abdel Razek wrote: “My theater friends, and my brothers at the Sharjah National Theater, my condolences to you for a man who was a brother to me before he was a colleague or friend. You are alive in my heart and soul Muhammad Al-Hamar, may God have mercy on you with the breadth of his mercy.”

The Russian journalist, Yaqoub, tweeted: “He moved next to his Lord, the father and friend, Muhammad Al-Hamr, a member of the Sharjah National Theater,” calling for forgiveness, and his family with patience and solace.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam wrote: “The big brother and dear friend Muhammad al-Hamr left us today to the House of Truth. We pray to God for mercy and forgiveness. We belong to God and to Him we shall return. May God have mercy on him and make him live in paradise, and He inspired his family and loved ones patience and solace.”

A tender journey

The artistic career of the artist, Mohammed Al-Hamer, dates back to the early years of the Sharjah National Theater, and thus he is considered one of the pioneers of the theater movement in the Emirates, and also one of the founders of this theater, which remained at the forefront of theater groups in the Emirates.

According to what the researcher and critic, Dr. Abd al-Ilah Abdel-Qader mentions, in his research, pointing out that the deceased lived all the years during which the theater suffered great pangs, and he was not asking for a financial reward as much as he was interested in participating, and he is not necessarily a hero, but his position is appropriate for his energy and form. And his components, and he did not achieve a fortune throughout his work in the theater, but he used to benefit from his own effort in his career.

Al-Hamar participated in a number of theatrical works, including the play "The Sun of the Day", in which he played a major role, in 1977, in cooperation with the late Saqr Al-Rashoud and Abdulaziz Al-Mansour.

This play was written by Tawfiq al-Hakim and prepared by Abdullah al-Saadawi, and a number of playwrights participated in it, who contributed to the establishment of the theater in the Emirates, such as: Ali Khamis, Majed Al-Suwaidi, Ghosn Salem, Ibrahim Bardani, Rashid Al-Suwaidi, Abdullah Al-Mannai, and Muhammad Hamdan.

This play was the first in modern theater, and was shown in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi as well.

According to Abd al-Qadir, the Humr also participated in the play "The Head of the Mamluk Jaber", with the artists: Saif Al-Ghanim, Ahmed Bousalem, and Ahmed Al-Jasmi.

In addition to presenting the play "Bird of Saad" for children, which was presented in 42 performances.

With time and due to job pressures, Muhammad al-Hamar's participation in artistic works declined, and then he disappeared from the limelight, like many of the names that seriously contributed to establishing theater in the Emirates.
