The faithful of Love is in the meadow may wonder if they haven't missed a part of the program. The first episode of M6's show, which will be broadcast soon, will start straight away with speed-dating, and not with the traditional opening of mails. Another important change: Karine Le Marchand will be around from these premises, watching on a screen, while commenting on them, face to face between the bachelors of the fields and their suitors or suitors.

“Karine always did Doctor Love in the shadows [the previous seasons]. We did not see it enough, ”explained producer Déborah Huet on Tuesday during a virtual press conference. Hence the idea of making the host appear more on the screen in this role of sentimental advisor. Decisions on the new writing of the show "have nothing to do with the events of Covid-19" and were taken "well in advance", we are told.

If it is true, the production was therefore well inspired since it would have been relatively complicated in the health context to bring together farmers and farmers in the same place for the opening of mail. From now on, the hearts to be taken discover the letters of their suitors or suitors at home, alone, a camera immortalizing their reading session. Their reactions are integrated according to the speed-dating assembly to explain what motivated them to meet such or such person.

The "weariness" of opening mail

“To be completely honest, this idea was born out of a weariness one could have. [The past seasons], there were always farmers who, when they had finished reading their letters, came to put their two cents in, distracted others, says Karine Le Marchand. It was painful because strong personalities swayed influenceable personalities when it comes to the love of their life. However, if they had had all the time they wanted and without having any influence whatsoever, perhaps they would have chosen other people on other criteria. Admittedly, it makes sequences less funny, less moving, which do not take up much space in the assembly, but, in the end, the participants will have chosen to meet who they wanted. "

The speed dates were filmed in a restaurant with a rustic atmosphere in Neuilly-sur-Seine, on a terrace with a view of the river. The sanitary rules were respected. For the first time, Karine Le Marchand was able to meet the suitors and suitors at the start of the adventure - and no longer at the time of the assessment, once all the episodes were filmed. "We have kilometers of rushes where, when I leave, the suitors comment on the tone of my voice, my outfit, how I am", laughs the host. Off sequences which will doubtless not be broadcast. On the other hand, the presenter will deliver her thoughts on the compatibility between two singles, on the way in which the meetings go and will get carried away for certain profiles out of the lot.

Usually Karine Le Marchand records at the end of the summer the portraits of unmarried farmers for the following season. This year, this is not yet the case, the confinement has shaken up plans. If the production has generally made up for lost time, the filming of the fifteenth season continues these days, with romantic weekends.

A new shoot for a late mail

The routine of alternating trios of farmers from one week to the next will no longer necessarily be relevant. “Sometimes people will disappear for a few episodes, and then come back, or not. Some will be there every week. It's the content that will decide the editing, ”says the presenter. Déborah Huet confirms: “There are twists and turns. Russian mountains. This is life, this is love. We adapt. "

The setbacks due to confinement have also made it possible to process late letters, arriving after the deadline. “During the shooting of the season, we had a farmer for whom things were not going very well with his suitors. And we received a letter that seemed so strong to us, obvious to him, that we set up a new shoot to introduce him to this person. We didn't want him to wait for the results, ”says the presenter.

With this new montage "more flirtatious and less formatted", says Karine Le Marchand, L'Amour est dans le pré , which remains a flagship program of M6, hopes to energize its audiences. The previous season marked a decline (3.4 million viewers on average) compared to the previous season (3.88 million). Nothing to be alarmed about, perhaps, but the TV must also know how to seduce.
