Rapper and US presidential candidate Kanye West - Eliot / Starface

Things are getting a little clearer regarding Kanye West's candidacy for the US presidential election next November. The artist has just revealed 10 proposals, relayed by Newsweek , which are at the heart of his electoral program. In terms of domestic policy, one of the major measures concerns the reform of justice and more particularly prison, for which Kim Kardashian has been campaigning for years.

Kanye West therefore intends to put an end to the “disparities in verdicts and prison sentences” which remain one of the main markers of racial inequalities in the United States.

For foreign policy, the independent candidate seems to rally to the isolationist logic of the current tenant of the White House. “To ensure that we always put the best interests of Americans first when it comes to foreign affairs,” one of the proposals states. "We must show strength, but not aggression," he nevertheless qualifies.

Restore faith

Another point that may seem exotic on this side of the Atlantic is Kanye West's spiritual ambition. Indeed, he calls for a "restoration of faith" and advocates in particular the return of prayer in the classrooms. Finally, on the social and economic side, the star wants to work for a reduction in real estate and student debt.

Between conservatism and social ambitions, these measures could appeal to some voters disappointed by the traditional camps. It remains to be seen if the rapper's whimsical campaign will really allow him to influence the outcome of the poll.
