A life saver is absent 100 coasts or more Coastline “Rescue may be delayed” August 13 21:25

Due to the effects of the new coronavirus, it was discovered that there were a number of beaches where sea openings were postponed, and at least 107 locations were not monitored by life savers. The Japan Coast Guard calls for playing in a place where there are people to monitor, as rescue may be delayed if an accident occurs.

According to a survey conducted by the Japan Life Saving Association through member organizations in various places, 122 of the 209 coasts in Japan that cooperate with surveillance activities each year, close to 60%, have not opened at the end of last month. Of these, 107 were found to have no life savers and no surveillance activities.

On these coasts, not only is the surveillance system lacking, there is no first aid station, and there is no “swimming area” that has been confirmed to be safe in the sea, so there is a risk of accidents. It is pointed out that it is higher than usual.

According to the Japan Coast Guard, by the 10th of this month, the number of people who had a marine accident had risen to 57 nationwide, an increase of more than 40% compared to the same period last year.

Masaya Hirose, Chief of Personnel Accident Countermeasures Division, Safety Measures Division, Japan Coast Guard, said, "Usually, observers call for danger, but there are many beaches that do not do anything. There is a risk that rescue will be delayed without it, so I would like you to play in a place where there is a beach and there are people watching."
