CCTV News: In the hot summer, there are always many people holding their jobs under the scorching sun. In Tongling, Anhui, this year’s rainy season caused many houses to leak. For example, as soon as it cleared today, it became the busiest time for house maintenance workers. Today (11th) we approached several house maintenance workers of different types of work. See how they work hard in the heat.

The gun was turned on, sparks splashed, and a heat wave formed on the roof under the scorching sun. Liu Xingcai, 53, and his workers were repairing an old building. They worked together to lay waterproof membranes and heat and dry the materials. Liu Xingcai said that they arrived at 6 o'clock in the morning. They cleaned the heat insulation board first, removed the old waterproof layer, and then covered the new bitumen waterproof membrane, which was heated by a musket to make the membrane and the roof adhere tighter.

The empty roof is unobstructed, wearing long-sleeved clothes and protective equipment. Liu Xingcai and his workers have to lay 4 bundles of waterproof membranes, covering more than 30 square meters in the morning. Although the clothes were wet with sweat over and over again, for Liu Xingcai, who has 8 years of work experience, it is most important to carefully lay every waterproof layer.

When the reporter saw Huang Guohua, another house maintenance worker, he was hanging on the exterior wall of a high-rise building with waterproof glue. Huang Guohua is a house exterior painter. His job must pay attention to his own safety and ensure that the walls are evenly painted. Huang Guohua has been doing this kind of high-altitude "Spiderman" work for 18 years.

Huang Guohua, house exterior painter: I must have been scared at the beginning, but I have used it for a long time.

In Tongling, Anhui, more than 130 maintenance workers like Liu Xingcai and Huang Guohua shuttle through the streets and alleys every day to solve the annoying problem of the leakage of houses. Affected by the continuous rainfall in the previous period, the number of repair reports for house repairs has increased sharply. The Tongling City Housing Maintenance Management Office accepted more than 1,400 applications for repairs of various houses in July alone, three times the number of repair reports for the same period in previous years.

Zhang Shijin, Chief of Engineering Section of Tongling City Housing Maintenance Management Office: After receiving the application from the residents, we must deal with it within 48 hours. In high-temperature weather, we adopted peak shift operations. We prepared mineral water and ten drops of water for workers to prevent heatstroke.

Scaffolding worker Wu Hong: The tenants tell us thank you. We feel very comfortable in our hearts. It's worth a little bit of tiredness.
