In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the traditional event of Kyoto's Bon Festival, “Goto Gozan Sendai”, will be carried out without drastically reducing the scale and letters and shapes. On the night of the 8th, before the implementation, someone was showing a letter in the shape of "Large" in the light on the mountain where the bonfire was held.

The "Kyoto Gozan bonfire" is a traditional event of the Bon Festival that makes five letters and shapes such as "large" and "boat shape" stand out in the mountains surrounding Kyoto city every year on the night of August 16th. This is the new coronavirus. In order to prevent the spread of the infection, it is decided that the scale will be greatly reduced and that it will be implemented without drawing letters or shapes.

However, at around 11:00 pm on the 8th, a message was sent to the local preservation association and police that the letter "Large" was lit on the mountain Ruyugatake where the fire was being fired in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto. In the photo taken by the person who witnessed it, you can see that the letters in the shape of "Large" appear in the slightly white light.

According to the Capital Letter Preservation Society, it is believed that somebody climbed the mountain and entered the private land without permission, and lit up using large-scale lighting.

Mr. Hidefumi Hasegawa, the chairman of the capital letter preservation society, is discussing measures such as consulting with the police to prevent recurrence, saying that it is an act to pollute the important ceremony to send the spirits of the ancestors who welcomed Obon.
