Guest of "Media Culture" on Europe 1, Mathieu Kassovitz, who plays Malotru in "Le Bureau des Légendes", returned to the future of the cult Canal + series. He hopes there will be a sixth season, but recalls that only Eric Rochant, the showrunner, can decide.

INTERVIEW

Will there be a Bureau of Legends Season 6 ? Mathieu Kassovitz, aka Paul Lefèvre in the series (or Malotru, his code name) hopes so. The now cult Canal + series, which follows several DGSE agents in France, Russia, the Middle East and even Cambodia in season 5, ended in April. "I hope it's not over, we all told Eric Rochant (the showrunner of the series, editor's note) that we wanted to continue and that we were in love with the series", explained the French actor at the microphone of Europe 1.

"The one who decides is Eric Rochant"

"We all want this to continue, we all want to die in a romantic way! And the one who decides is Eric Rochant," explains Mathieu Kassovitz. "If you want season 6 to exist, you have to write to Eric on Twitter and call Canal + by spreading the message," he smiles. Yet Eric Rochant still planned to quit the project after season five. When asked, " Is the Legends Office really over?" the director of the Patriots had replied: "I do not know if the series stops, but me, I stop, yes."

"I think Eric needs to rest because he has done that for five years without ever stopping, he needs to recharge his batteries," tempered Mathieu Kassovitz at the microphone of Europe 1 Wednesday.

Above all, the end of season five, whose final double-episode was directed by Jacques Audiard rather than Eric Rochant, did not convince some spectators. Many were disappointed with the choice of screenplays and several plots were not closed. But even if that had been the case, Mathieu Kassovitz believes that Jacques Audiard "could not have escaped".

Can't complete a working series?

"When you finish a series that works well, you will always be in the wrong", explains the interpreter of Malotru, citing the end of one of his favorite series:  The Sopranos . “My favorite shows, I don't have one where I enjoy their endings and I have to smile like a jerk and say that the Sopranos ending is great. No, it's not great! not satisfied ", recognizes Mathieu Kassovitz.

To believe that TV series generally end badly. "But it also shows the author's power in the creative process," concludes Mathieu Kassovitz. "It brings us there and it is no longer to question. It is quite strong as a possibility of being able to finish a story."
