"Atomic Bomb Day" Peace Park closed at 5 am 7:52 on August 6 to prevent new corona infection

The Peace Park in Hiroshima City, where the Peace Memorial Ceremony will be held, was closed at 5 am to prevent infection with the new coronavirus. The number of attendees at the ceremony is also significantly limited.

Every year, many people gather at the Peace Memorial Ceremony, which starts at 8 am, but in order to prevent infection with the new coronavirus, Hiroshima City is located on the south side of the park, which is the venue only before and after the ceremony. The area is closed.

At 5 am when the closure started, Hiroshima City officials installed ropes and poles to restrict entry to the park and called for no entry. However, between 5 am and 7 am, admission was only allowed to worship at the atomic bomb memorial in the park, so the people who visited the park offered their prayers.

The commemorative ceremony has more than 10,000 attendee seats every year, but this year we have eliminated the general attendee seats and reduced the seats to 805 seats.

A 70-year-old man from Minami-ku, Hiroshima City who visited Peace Park said, "I prayed because I can't attend the ceremony like I did every year. I think it's better not to restrict entrance, but the new coronavirus has converged. Then I want many people from all over the world to visit."

The Peace Park will be closed at 9 am after the ceremony.
