Saudi Arabia decided today, Monday, for the first time, not to perform Eid al-Adha prayers in open places, in light of the exceptional circumstances that the Kingdom is going through in the face of the Corona pandemic, and it is satisfied with the mosques prepared to pray according to the preventive measures.
Today, the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Da`wah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abd al-Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh directed the ministry’s branches in the regions of the Kingdom to approve the establishment of Eid al-Adha prayers for the current year in the additional mosques and mosques that are prepared only, and to ensure that they are not held in open chapels, in light of the exceptional circumstances, taking measures Preventive issued by the competent authorities.
The Saudi minister stressed the importance of preparing all mosques, as well as additional mosques prepared to receive worshipers during Eid prayers, in light of what the Ministry of Islamic Affairs is doing.
It should be noted that in the past Eid al-Fitr, Saudi Arabia was satisfied with raising the takbeers from after Fajr prayer until the time for Eid prayer was entered through external loudspeakers, with no Eid prayer being held in all mosques and chapels in the regions of the Kingdom, according to the precautionary measures that were in effect at the time.
