Naya Rivera, star of the television series "Glee", is missing and searches will continue on Thursday to find her in a lake in California. The actress had rented a boat for a ride with her 4-year-old son on Lake Piru, but the latter was found alone, asleep and "wearing a life jacket" by a third party.  

A star of the "Glee" television series Naya Rivera is missing and searches will continue on Thursday to find her in a lake in California where she may have drowned, according to local officials. The Ventura County police force tweeted that they were looking for a "possible drowning victim" in the lake and that a team of divers had been deployed to the scene. Naya Rivera, 33, owes her notoriety to the character of Santana Lopez, a student cheerleader whom she embodies in the six seasons of the Glee series.

Her son found asleep on the boat

She hired a boat on Wednesday to take her four-year-old son to Lake Piru northwest of Los Angeles, a spokeswoman for the Ventura County police said. The child was found by a third party on the lake, asleep and "wearing a life jacket," said Eric Buschow to AFP. "The searches are suspended until morning and will resume at dawn," he said.

Naya Rivera posted a photo of her with her son on Twitter Wednesday with the comment "only the two of them." She had divorced in 2018 from the father of the child, actor Ryan Dorsey, and both shared custody of the child, according to the media specialized in the people TMZ.

Another "Glee" actor, Mark Salling, died in 2018 while awaiting a judgment for possession of child pornography. The Canadian star Cory Monteith, another star of the series, died in July 2013 from an drug and alcohol overdose.
