All-out meetings this weekend to try to resolve the political crisis that has shaken Mali for the past few weeks. President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta received Imam Mahmoud Dicko and members of his movement, the M5-RFP, the presidential majority and the founding families of Bamako. But nothing really concrete emerged from these discussions.

During this meeting, the Head of State heard the grievances of the M5-RFP through the memorandum transmitted through Imam Dicko, without however giving a favorable response to these proposals ," notes Maliweb . "I respect the positions expressed by you, said IBK, and on this, I invite you to continue and deepen the exchanges with the presidential majority." "

Among these grievances: a government of national unity and the appointment of a Prime Minister who would have more power than the President of the Republic and who would not be revocable by it. The M5 wants to reduce the head of state to an honorary role for the two years and seven months that it has in power , points Maliweb. A pill probably very bitter that IBK, very jealous of its power, does not accept to swallow.  "

Seeds for a new democracy ?

For the daily L'Aube , this transfer of power is however the only solution to get out of the crisis ... " Reading the political offer to end the crisis of the June 5 Movement, there could be Malians to to be moved by its maximalist character. But when we make the effort to let go of the sentimentality and the compassion that each of us can feel for a tired old president, the haggard spirit, the lost gaze, we find in the proposals of the M5 good buoys for IBK , says L'Aube, and the leaven for a reconstruction of the foundations of a new democracy  (…). "

Resignation in stunts within the majority

In any case, the M5-RFP maintains more than ever its call to demonstrate next Friday. The discussions of this weekend did not start the determination of the movement, all the more, underlines the information site Inf @ sept , that "  some barons have already left the ship and others have suspended their participation in the next government. Indeed , specifies Inf @ sept, seeing a strong wind blowing towards the regime, the majority boat empties before the final quay, while that of the M5-RFP begins to fill up, to the point of refusing some to its edge. This confusion and this can-be-saved among the majority, today heterogeneous is explained by the shock of the interests of its members. On the one hand, there are those who want to preserve their achievements and who are ready for all the compromises to achieve it, and on the other side, the jaded of the regime who seek to return and find a place in the sun, but who doubt today the ability of the Head of State to raise the almost broken bar.  "

And Inf @ sept to wonder: "  These signs do they not announce the decline of the regime ? Can IBK save face while minimizing damage ?  "

Chrysanthemums for IBK?

The Burkinabé press, for its part, wonders…  Like the daily newspaper Today  : “  Will IBK agree to inaugurate the chrysanthemums, the almost three years that it has left as a lease ? What will happen to his presidential majority ? Who will be this rare political animal to incarnate this Prime Minister with exceptional powers ? Will this government of national unity be able to resolve the crises in which Mali is entangled and which IBK has not been able to resolve ? As we can see, the path drawn by the June 5 Movement is perhaps part of the solution, but obviously not all.  "

Finally, advanced Observer Paalga , "  accepting a unity government, IBK could have put his finger in a spiral of killing the Third Republic or, at least, that would make him a naked king good to inaugurate the chrysanthemums. He will not have resigned, but if he were to be deprived of the powers to activate the levers of the state apparatus, it would be just like. Will he go so far as to abandon his presidential prerogatives to save the country from the doggie ? We are waiting to see.  "
