They live in wells, more than 400 people.
Wells were not dug by them, they were made by nature-surrounded by rolling mountains. Compared with the tall and steep mountain, the portrait is like an ant, and the house is like a flower dotted in the mountain (it is said that from the wellhead to the bottom of the well, the vertical height is more than 1100 meters, the diameter of the bottom of the well is 1.3 kilometers, and the diameter of the wellhead is less than 10 kilometers) .
To be precise, they live in the "calf" position of a mountain. Standing in front of the house, the surrounding mountains stood upright, the stone walls were bare, and there was no grass.
This is Wushanxiazhuang. It is located deep in the source of the Little Three Gorges. The clear stream at the foot of the mountain flows from a narrow gap between the two mountains. The river bed is full of pebbles and weird boulders. It is extremely hard. The beauty of Xia Zhuang is hard, so pure, so hot, so hard to burn.
It burned up one night, and that night 20 years ago, such a hot heart, "I always feel like it was yesterday." Mao Xianglin said.
Since that passion burned that night, people have talked about it countless times: some people wrote it as a script, some people wrote it in a book, some people made sculptures, some people toured the city, last year Mao Xianglin made many speeches on stage, and there were many media A series of exhausted reports. 2Xia Zhuang, under the cloud

The people under the Baiyun, from top to bottom, line by line, layer by layer, well-organized, neat and tidy. The winding concrete road leads directly to every courtyard dam, adding a new imagination to this isolated world. When you stare at it, you always feel it is full of magic.
In Xiazhuang in the middle of May, the wheat has not yet been collected. The golden wheat and green fruits and vegetables are in front of the villagers' houses.
The village director Mao Xianglin's house is in the upper row. Standing on the second floor can better overlook Xiazhuang Village. Many flowers were planted in front of the Yuanba. The roses bloomed warmly, and the roses were gorgeous.
Many people call him "hair dwarf". At 62 years old this year, his skin is yellow and black, and his face is full of vicissitudes, always with a simple smile. He is a courageous person. Mao Xianglin re-planned the development of Zhuang. He is going to start a "flower project"-every house is filled with flowers in front of the house and on both sides of the road; he plans to color the house, "have applied with the superiors, and strive to uniformly paint the ochre yellow in the village next year"; "Peach Blossom Land" and other attractions attract more tourists. On the evening of May 13, Xiazhuang held a dam meeting of villagers' courtyards. The villagers, you say one thing to me, give your opinions and opinions. Mao Xianglin listened while listening. A villager is very dissatisfied with the need to occupy his own land for repairing tourism projects. "How hard was it to build a road before? Did everyone forget it? What was it for? 3 Burning Xiazhuang and Tianlu

There is an ancient road hidden behind Mao Xianglin’s house, with steep roads and 108 “zigzags”. It is said that Jianshuo's Xiazhuang people have to climb up empty-handed for several hours. They go to Wushan County for at least four days. On the side mountain is another ancient road, which is steeper and more dangerous. Mao Xianglin's mother married from this road to Xia Zhuang. She said: Since I left this time, I dare not walk a second time in my life. Several places are steep cliffs. Someone must pull you up with a rope. According to statistics, 23 people have been killed on the cliff and 75 people have been injured and disabled. "The fruits in the mountains are mature but they cannot be shipped out, and they can only rot in the ground; a large amount of medicinal materials cannot be sold, but can only be burned by firewood; Swallowed; girls outside the mountains were killed and did not marry into the mountains, men could only beat bachelors..." Mao Xianglin said, many people failed to take a step out of the mountain from life to death.
The Xiazhuang people are eager to come out, not crawl out. Who is going to build a road?
Mao Xianglin stood up. More than 200 years ago, his ancestors brought his family in, and now he wants to lead everyone out.
Once out of Wushan County, the car quickly plunged into the hinterland of the mountains. After passing through the town of Wuxian Zhuxian Township, a half-hour drive to the junction of Xiazhuang Village and Shuanghe Village. This place is nearly 1,200 meters above sea level. Two mountain shoulders squeeze shoulders, only three feet wide and narrow in the middle, a thousand cliffs above the head, and a deep abyss at the foot, no way, because there is no footing, no inch of soil.
Then ask the stone wall for the way. Mao Xianglin led the Zhuang people to plan a road in the stone wall with both hands. An unimaginable miracle. People call this road "Sky Road".
In the year when Chongqing was directly under the central government, Mao Xianglin took over as secretary of the party branch and village director of Xiazhuang Village. The occlusion and poverty of Xia Zhuang became a big stone pressed against his heart. He said: "Xia Zhuang looks like this, my village party secretary confessed to the villagers? He confessed to the party organization? At that time, I had a plan to repair the village road."
Some of the villagers are skeptical and worried, and some are crazy. Mao Xianglin persuaded mobilization one by one, "The mountain chisel is one foot wide and one foot wide, and the road repair is one foot long and one foot long. If we can move forward one foot, we will never step back one foot. There will always be a day that can be repaired."
They don't have any mechanical equipment, not even a rig, only ropes, baskets, steel drills, sledgehammers, and a pair of hands.
No money, no supplies, only burning hearts. Mao Xianglin took the lead to take out 700 of her mother's pension funds. As the first road repair funds, the villagers spontaneously gathered together and raised nearly 4,000 yuan. Mao Xianglin loaned more than 10,000 yuan from the credit union in his own name.
They wore long ropes around their waists, stood in the baskets, and hung on the cliffs hundreds of meters high to shoot the gunholes; without digging machines, they put a gun on the cliffs first, exploded a foothold, and then used steel brazing Sledgehammer, in the most primitive way, swing in the air, climb on the wall, pry with steel braces, explode with detonators, use two pedals, explode a gap in the mountainside, and advance forward step by step.
On the twelfth lunar month of 1997, Mao Xianglin led the villagers to blast the first cannon to declare war on closure and poverty in "Yu'er Creek". It is only a few minutes drive from Yuerxi to Xiazhuang, and now it takes only a few minutes to drive.
In August 1999, 26-year-old Shen Qingfu was hit by a large rock that fell from a cliff when he was building a road, and fell off the cliff. When the villagers pulled him up, he was already stiff and cold, and the whole village cried. More than 50 days later, on September 29, the tragedy happened again. When 36-year-old Huang Huiyuan used a steel drill to pry the rock that was blown loose by a cannon, a boulder rolled down, and he was directly smashed into a deep trench of more than 300 meters...
Less than two months later, two young people died. Mao Xianglin was extremely guilty. If he did not insist on building roads, tragedy would not happen. When sending Huang Huiyuan's body home, he was ready to be scolded and beaten. But Huang Huiyuan's father, 72-year-old Huang Yikun did not scold. The first sentence he saw when Mao Xianglin said: "Thank you for getting Huiyuan back."
For seven years, the Xiazhuang people finally cut out an 8-kilometer-long "road" on the cliff. A total of six people gave their lives before and after. In 2015, Mao Xianglin led the villagers to upgrade the road to a 3-meter wide gravel road for half a year, and the car can enter the village; in 2017 in Wushan
With the support of the county party committee and county government, the roads were hardened and reinforced, and guardrails were added. Today, it takes only about an hour and a half from Xiazhuang to the county seat. Since the passage in 2004, 36 people in the village have gone out to elementary school, 132 people have gone out to middle school, and 29 people have been admitted to university.
4 Three gifts
Xia Zhuang is really a hideaway.
Nature loves good and evil. It gave Xia Zhuang the harsh natural conditions, and had to give some benefits. There are three "good gifts": high-quality soil, sufficient water, and a suitable climate. Anyone who knows a little about agriculture will understand that Xiazhuang will not be hungry anymore.
The Xiazhuang people called their soil "big soil". I grabbed a handful in a few plots. One pinch, the soil was particularly soft and moist; another pinch showed that the soil had a granular structure. Soil science tells us that this is good soil for planting crops.
I don't know how this light red soil was produced. It's a magical xiazhuang.
The grains and fruits grown in Xia Zhuang have a great taste. The first one to talk about is wheat. Wu Wenrui, the mayor of Zhuxian Township, said: Xiazhuang wheat is very famous, and the noodles are 10 yuan a catty, which is difficult to buy. Good wheat and good noodles are inseparable from good varieties. The people of Xiazhuang talked about their pride of wheat. The wheat seeds are old seeds retained by Xiazhuang. They have not changed for decades and cannot be copied elsewhere. They are absolute geographical indication brands.
How about potatoes, corn, watermelon, citrus? They are more delicious than other places around. Watermelon was introduced by Mao Xianglin. One day more than ten years ago, he went to a relative's house in Wushan County. After dinner, the relative bought a big watermelon. Mao Xianglin had never eaten a watermelon at the time. It was curious. The next day, he found the melon-selling technique. The second Zhuang planted watermelons next year, but I thought Mao Xianglin's melons were better. "Xia Zhuang watermelon gradually became famous, and the watermelons in other nearby villages also played our Xiazhuang brand." Wu Wenrui said.
Mao Xianglin led the villagers to plant 300 acres of watermelon, 650 acres of Newhall oranges, more than 500 acres of pumpkin, and later opened a new 150 acres of peach garden. Mao Xianglin took the lead in renovating his house, starting the first farmhouse in the village, and is now implementing the renovation of famous villages and villages. With these, Xia Zhuang got rid of poverty.
There is more room for imagination in the land of Xiazhuang.
As soon as winter came, there was heavy snow in the mountain villages and towns of Wushan. The strange thing was that there was no snow in Xiazhuang. "It snowed on the opposite mountain and stopped." Mao Xianglin said. This may be the advantage in the well. The altitude of Xiazhuang is not high (almost 700 meters), and the winter in the well is warm. There is no snow, and winter crops are long.
The last gift, water. The water in Xia Zhuang was shining brightly, and the flowing sound was crisp and smooth. Water is also used to generate electricity. The power station is small by the river at the foot of the mountain, a house. This allowed Xia Zhuang to use electric lamps in 1977, and at this time, many townships in Wushan still used kerosene lamps.
Xia Zhuang is like a paradise, for those who love the original ecology, this place is more attractive. Mao Xianglin mentioned one point: more than 400 villagers in Xia Zhuang, 3 people over 90 years old, 20 people between 80 and 90 years old, more and more people live longer. Alpine retirement, Xia Zhuang is an optional place.
5 Xia Zhuang Ancient Road
Mao Xianglin took us to climb the "Xia Zhuang Ancient Road". The afternoon sun was very clear, and the whole village shone with light.
The "easy" one after we climbed the house. Mao Xianglin led the way through a vegetable field and citrus forest, and soon entered the forest. The road is getting steeper and narrower, and some places are missing. There have been no people walking for many years, and the road is covered with thorns. But Mao Xianglin knew how to go with his eyes closed, because he had to walk a hundred times since the previous year. Mao Xianglin helped us clear obstacles and constantly reminded everyone to be careful.
After climbing for almost an hour, we came to a "big step". Mao Xianglin said: "If you want to cross this mountain, you have to climb three more such steps. The road behind is steeper and longer." The large steps are a simple platform made of stones, which is convenient for carrying things back. Take a break and take a break. There is a bare stone cliff outside the steps. Standing on the high stone cliff, we are like being thrown in the air in a huge patio. The 8-kilometer-long "Sky Road" is directly across from us. The panorama, like a dancing ribbon, inlaid on the verdant mountainside, is extremely magnificent and full of charm.
Mao Xianglin stood on the cliff and stared at the "Sky Road" with a solemn expression. What was he thinking? Remember the brothers who died, and remember those burning years. In this land that he is nostalgic, no matter how high the mountain can't stop the radiance of a hot heart, no deep well can kill the power of that hot heart.
