Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Honorary President of the Emirates Publishers Association, has announced the launch of a crisis fund for Emirati publishers, with a budget of one million dirhams, with the aim of supporting publishers affected by the Corona pandemic, and supporting them to complete their creative and cultural projects.
The Emirati Publishers Association will undertake the task of coordinating and communicating with Emirati book makers to benefit from the services provided by the fund, in partnership with the Sharjah Book Authority and the Sharjah Publishing City, as the fund seeks to reach various publishers working within the country, and to identify the challenges they face, to work to provide assistance Necessary for the continuity and advancement of their business.
On the launch and vision of the fund, Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi said: “The publishing and book industry sector is not separate from other vital economic sectors in the world, and it is natural that it will go through the challenges posed by the emerging Corona virus crisis, but it is important to stress that there are no A crisis that occurs only and brings with it mechanisms to overcome it and the opportunities to benefit from it, so today we stand with the publishers in the country to give them the space again, so that they can put the necessary plans to complete their projects in the manufacture of knowledge and creativity ».
Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi added: “In light of crises, we need more than ever before to join hands, collaborate and work with the spirit of one team. This is what the Emirati publishing market and cultural mobility embodied in the country. The Crisis Fund for Emirati publishers is only a step for more steps we look forward to working on and achieving. In order to serve the Emirati book, especially that the Corona virus crisis has proven that the book will remain the most solid pillar in spreading awareness, promoting the values of brotherhood and peace, and perpetuating a culture of dialogue with others in various countries of the world ».

The mechanisms for benefiting from the fund will be revealed later, based on a series of steps that will be worked on in coordination with the Emirates Publishers Association, and in partnership with the Sharjah Book Authority and Sharjah Publishing City.
