Actress Jane Fonda at a Fire Drill Fridays gathering in Los Angeles - Zuma / Starface

Against the war, in the fight against global warming, for the cause of women ... Jane Fonda is in all the fights. This Sunday, the actress spoke on CNN to support the anti-racist protests that have been taking place in the United States since last week in reaction to the death of George Floyd after a very violent arrest on May 25.

"Because we're white, we have had privilege. Even the poorest of us have had privilege. We need to recognize that, and we have to understand what it is that keeps racism in place: the policies, redlining, banking policies, mortgage policies. " - @JaneFonda pic.twitter.com/HcQmihaF3v

“Because we are white, we have enjoyed privileges. Even the poorest of us are privileged. You have to understand what keeps racism in place (…), everything that keeps black people out of poverty. Action must be taken, white people must understand the story behind it and try to change, deep down, "said Hollywood legend on the Don Lemon show.

The change is now

First step to bring about this change: change the president, Donald Trump being responsible for the wave of racism that is sweeping the country. “First of all, we have to get rid of this administration because this country should not be burdened by someone like that and the people around it, who make it capable of doing these things (…) We live in a very important moment. We have upcoming elections, we have a pandemic crisis, we have a climate crisis, we have a race crisis and we have a choice to make, ”says the star of Grace & Frankie .

As a sign of support for the movement, Jane Fonda was dressed entirely in black, with a beret. A way of implicitly supporting the movement by referring to the outfit of the Black Panthers, which it supported since the 1970s, as Time recalled in a portrait of the actress.
