The Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Museum has been established in the Yasuage area of ​​Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake. did.

In the Yuriage area of ​​Natori City, more than 700 people were killed in the tsunami of the earthquake.

In order to pass on the memories and lessons to future generations, the “Earthquake Disaster Rehabilitation Museum” was constructed by Natori City for about 150 million yen, including a national reconstruction grant.

Originally it was planned to open on April 1, but due to the influence of the new coronavirus, it was postponed for about 2 months, and on the 30th, a commemorative ceremony was held with about 30 people involved.

The facility is about 300 square meters in size, and you can see a picture of the tsunami rushing in and a picture of the reconstruction after that for more than 5 minutes.

There are also displays of a junior high school clock that stopped at 2:46 pm when the earthquake occurred, and a model that recreates the cityscape before the earthquake.

Admission is free, and Natori City will hold various special exhibitions and guides by storytellers.
