Accused of sexual assault by his adopted daughter, Woody Allen released his autobiography in early June in France. For the occasion, Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, deputy editor of the weekly Le Point, interviewed the filmmaker who gave him his version of the facts. Sunday on Europe 1, the journalist returned to this interview.

INTERVIEW

It’s a book that might make noise. At the microphone of Patrick Cohen, Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, assistant editor of the weekly Le Point , told Sunday on Europe 1 his interview with the American filmmaker Woody Allen, who signs an autobiography available in French from June 3. In this interview with the journalist, Woody Allen notably referred to the charges of sexual assault brought against him.

In Either said in passing , published by Stock editions, Woody Allen devotes several pages to the accusations brought by Dylan Farrow, his adopted daughter with Mia Farrow, his ex-wife. Dylan Farrow claims to have been sexually abused by Woody Allen in 1992 when she was seven years old. The 84-year-old filmmaker has always denied these accusations. Woody Allen has not been the subject of any examination or judgment.

Mia Farrow "mad with rage"

Questioned by Christophe Ono-dit-Bio, Woody Allen returned to his version of the facts: according to him, it is a personal revenge of Mia Farrow who would not have accepted the bond of his companion with his other adopted daughter , Soon-Yi Previn. "When Mia Farrow discovers Woody Allen's affair with her adopted daughter, she becomes absolutely mad with rage," said the reporter. "He is not extraordinarily tender with Mia Farrow".

Woody Allen's reputation has been seriously tarnished in the United States as a result of this sexual assault case. In this interview with Le Point , he thus remembers the reactions shared in the world of cinema. If "people have been on his side like Pedro Almodóvar or Javier Bardem", says Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, others have been more cautious. Woody Allen "quotes a number of people who said to him, 'I don't think you did anything. I totally agree with you but I can't say it. If I say it, my career is screwed up ", reports the journalist.

"As trendy as a kale-based diet"

According to Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, Woody Allen goes even further. "Saying we didn't want to tour with me was as hip as the latest kale diet formula," Woody Allen told the reporter. "It had become trendy in Hollywood to say that we didn't want to tour with him even though all those people who refused had dreamed of it during their whole life," sums up Christophe Ono-dit-Biot.

The journalist describes a "lucid" man, detached from the eyes of others. "I don't care that posterity remembers from me that I was a great filmmaker or a great pedophile. You could say that I am a serial killer or a bank robber, my films are made," the filmmaker told Christophe Ono-dit-Biot.
