The African Football Confederation asked the different countries of the continent to decide before May 5, 2020 on the continuation of their competitions. Ten days after this date, many national federations have still not announced a decision. Several have however opted for a cancellation, a halt to the season or a postponement of its outcome.

THE SEASON IS DEFINITELY STOPPED

The Cameroon decided to stop everything, which makes the happiness of the PWD Bamenda national champion for the first time in its history.

In Congo-Brazzaville , AS Otoho was crowned, taking advantage of a fixed classification.

In Congo-Kinshasa , the same situation where Mazembe sees his name on the charts.

SEASON IS CANCELED

In Angola , it was decided on June 30 to cancel the Girabola. Petro Atletico is not crowned champion but will represent his country in the Champions League, with the Primeiro de Agosto.

The Burina Faso followed suit a few days later. No champion for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

In Cape Verde , the sports federations have agreed to cancel the 2019-2020 season.

In Ethiopia , a radical choice: no team should be entered in African club cups.

The Guinea has decided to freeze all: mounted or relegation.

The Niger also opts for a white season.

Other countries: Gambia, Liberia, Mauritius

THE END OF THE SEASON IS POSTPONED

In Burundi , the Primus League is expected to resume in late May, after the general elections. The country had caused controversy by continuing to play while the overwhelming majority of the African championships were interrupted.

In Gabon , we want to end the season even if we don't know when yet.

In Madagascar , the elite clubs and the Federation are in favor of a recovery and have reported it to CAF but await government directives before establishing a calendar.

In Mali , we will resume as soon as the conditions are met. No date set yet.

In Mauritania , an ambitious "  rescue plan for the 2019-2020 sports season  " was put in place with the aim of finishing the championship in September before starting the 2020-2021 exercise in October.

In Senegal , we see far and we expect to resume Ligue 1 in November.

In Tunisia , we also know the month for a return to competition (behind closed doors): August.

Other countries: Eswatini, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Zambia

NOT YET FINAL DECISIONS

In South Africa , the Federation (SAFA) and the League (PSL) are still discussing a recovery, while strict measures have been taken in the country. The prospect of attributing the title of champion to the Kaizer Chiefs, who are ahead of the Mamelodi Sundowns in the standings, if the season ends prematurely, seems to divide.

In Algeria , the Federation and the League hope to go to the end of the season, even if no recovery date has been set and that a prosecution will be subject to changes in the health situation in the country.

Same situation in Benin where, however, we are moving more towards a cancellation if the context does not soon lend itself to a return to football.

In the Central African Republic , the Federation gives itself until the end of the month to decide. The pressure is less strong to finish in RCA where the Championship is already almost over.

In Côte d'Ivoire , from mid-April, the football authorities leaned in favor of postponing the end of the season. However, since then, the situation has changed little and the Federation is focused on the election of its next president.

In Djibouti , it's time for patience. In mid-April, the Federation and club leaders did not rule out a recovery.

In Egypt , the Federation is working on the different scenarios and must make a decision by the end of May at the latest. The Minister of Sports did not close the door on one occasion but warned that health considerations would take precedence over the ball.

In Ghana , discussions are continuing and the head of the Federation (GFA) has warned of the financial consequences of canceling the season. The GFA has set June 30 as the deadline for reaching a decision.

In Equatorial Guinea , the players in football have agreed: everything will depend on the local development of the coronavirus epidemic.

In Kenya , the situation is more complex than elsewhere. The president of the Federation decreed the premature end of the Championship and the coronation of Gor Mahia without the approval of the League. The two authorities have since engaged in a legal showdown.

In Malawi , efforts are focused on providing food aid to players, officials and officials. FAM leaders nevertheless hope to be able to end the season before the end of September. Otherwise, the season will be canceled.

In Morocco , the suspense is more and more unbearable for fans of the Botola, after now two months of stoppage linked to the Covid-19.

In Nigeria , no final decision even if the clubs seem rather favorable to a recovery.

In Rwanda , we give ourselves until May 30 to make a decision. The world of football wishes to complete its competitions but will observe the recommendations of the local authorities.

In Togo , no communication concerning a possible decision, for the moment.

Other countries: Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Uganda, Sudan, Chad, Zimbabwe
