The skin color of two Chinese doctors was changed to black after being exposed to the emerging coronavirus while treating patients at Bohan Hospital last January.
The doctor supervising their condition said that the abnormal skin color was caused by hormonal imbalances after the liver was damaged by the virus.
It was suspected that the patients' skin turned dark due to the type of medication they received at the beginning of the treatment.
He added that one of the side effects of the drug is darkening of the skin color, but he did not mention the name of the drug.
The doctor expected a skin tone to return to normal after the liver function improved.
