A Canadian study proposed a new theory according to which the Corona virus may have been transmitted to humans through stray dogs to which the infection was transmitted from bats, and not by snakes or the scaly anteater as previous studies have claimed.

The author of the research paper, Professor of Biology at the University of Ottawa, Canada, Chuhua Chia, confirmed that the virus has passed to stray dogs that eat bats. According to Xia, dogs provide a more convincing explanation of how the virus is transmitted to humans.

The study, published in the Journal of "Molecular Biology and Evolution" issued by the University of Oxford on April 14th, indicates evidence that stray dogs are a possible origin of the serious epidemic that has swept the world.
